How to Merge in Monkey Evolution

Merging is the whole combat system. There is no weakness chart. Two matching sprites become the next mutation; everything else is a missed click or an Impostor tax.

Updated:

Monkey Evolution merge field with several doodle primates

Press one monkey, drag onto another of the same species, release. Both disappear. One higher form lands near the drop. Coins may pop as a bonus, but the real prize is the new rank. If you are still learning the finger motion, use the controls page. If you do not know which forms even exist, skim the species list first.

Why a drag does nothing

  • Different species, even if both are “sort of monkeys.”
  • One target is an Impostor or alien visitor.
  • One target is a Pantheon god.
  • You dropped on empty grass (that only moves the unit).
  • The board has no space for the result and the client rejects the fuse.

That last failure is the silent killer. The beginner tips tell you to keep holes. Merge math without holes is how a legal pair still “doesn’t work.”

Singletons are debt

One leftover of a step cannot climb. It waits for a twin. Meanwhile it occupies the creature cap. The evolution chart assumes clean pairing. Real boards are messy. When you have three of a step, merge two and park the leftover next to the shop so the next purchase can complete it.

Do not merge your only producer

If your tallest monkey is the idle engine, fusing it into a form you cannot yet pair may drop income. Climb with feeders. Keep one top earner unless the next stage literally requires that fuse. The tier list is the judgment call; this page is the mechanical one.

Count before you climb

Open the merge calculator, set current step and target step, and believe the base-monkey number. If it is larger than remaining grass plus affordable shop buys, you are not merging, you are clogging. Buy fewer, pair more.

Once pairing is automatic, coins become the limiter. Switch to how to get coins. If pairing fails on a creature that looks famous, switch to how to find Impostors.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the merge loop, Pantheon, and codes.

Can I merge three monkeys at once?

No. The rule is two. A third leftover stays on the field.

Do levels on the same species matter?

Identity matters. Two of the same species merge. Do not expect a power-level overlay like an RPG.

Is there a merge undo?

No. Plan tall fuses with the calculator.
